I just received a box of early Jintys. They are generally in quite reasonable condition except where some child has inexpertly coloured one specific serial with felt tips for the entirety of its run in issues 1 to 11.
If I had a time machine, I'd travel back to 1974 and give that child a slap.
And take away all her felt pens.
Bought the final Tammy Annual online recently in the hope they might’ve published unseen material from the post-cancellation days. It’s not so farfetched. The 1986 Scream Holiday Special printed the cover of an issue which was never published, along with revealing the face of Ghastly McNasty which readers had been previously encouraged to draw in order to win a prize (eventually won in Eagle).
ReplyDeleteAlas it was chock-a-block with reprints, most or all from 1981. Looking at that very year in Colindale Newspaper Library I spotted: The Black And White World of Shirley Grey (7 Feb – 30 May), Mollie Mills and the Sporting Life (8 – 29 Aug) and three Wee Sue stories (10 and 31 Jan, 7 Mar), and there were no doubt others I missed. What a wasted opportunity.
I recently found that they did summer specials right up to 1986 too, but as far as I'm aware they didn't use them to finish off any of the stories either.
